Here at The Smiley Baby, we strive for perfection. Our high quality baby clothing is made of 100 % hand harvested Peruvian Pima Cotton. Pima cotton is breathable, soft, durable, hypoallergenic and rich in texture. Thanks to its extra-long fibers, Peruvian Pima Cotton is considered to be the world’s finest for its remarkable durability, softness and vibrant colors.
Our journey began with our second baby, Lucas. His sensitivity to clothes was something new for us and we were not sure of how to navigate it. We tried different blankets, bibs, bodysuits and nothing seemed to work. It was almost as if anything that his skin came in contact with would cause him to have a skin reaction!
We battled with his skin sensitivity for 6 months, until one day my family from Peru introduced us to the softest baby clothes we had ever seen. Right away we noticed how comfortable Lucas was in the clothing and most importantly, he did not have any skin reactions! We Loved how fresh it made him feel, the fabric is so breathable that it helped prevent him from being hot. The softness of this cotton did not cause any issues when rubbing his neck. The color! I liked how it kept its brilliance wash after wash and how resistant to pilling it was.
Lucas’s skin sensitivity got better with time and we take extra caution when he’s outside and even inside the house now that he’s literally crawling and walking everywhere!
The fact that newborn babies have up to 10 times more sensitive skin than the rest of us, made me realize that we need more Pima Cotton in our lives and we want to share this experience with you!
We produced our first collection “Basics” in Peru right before the pandemic. As first time small business owners, we experienced some challenges due to the pandemic but our mission remained the same- to help families #StaySoft.
